Mission Reports: Santa Fe Mountain Durango
On April 2nd a team from Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery went up Santa Fe Mountain trail outside of Idaho Springs to pull a Durango back onto the trail after slipping off trying to turn around.
A simple redirect was initially tried but the pulling force required to free the vehicle from the situation was greater than that rigging. There was enough line on the winch to rig up a 3:1 (three to one) to get the winch on its last wrap, and safely pull the Durango back onto the road.
Once recovered it was a short drive back to pavement and everyone was on their way. The last responder arrived home just before 2 AM.
