Mission Reports: Missouri Gulch Ram
Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery dispatched a team to Missouri Gulch to extract multiple people stuck on the mountain just after midnight this morning.
Once they got on-scene, the recovery efforts were fast enough to warrant converting the call to a full recovery vs extraction (and coming back for the two vehicles later). The team was off the mountain at 4 AM and the last responder pulled into their driveway at 5:30 AM as the sun was coming up.
Remember, snow conditions are extremely deceiving right now in the mountains! It is very easy to fall through that top crust layer and belly out your vehicle, or slide off the icy tracks and get hung up on the side of the forest roads.
Don’t travel solo, tell someone where you are going and when you’ll be back, and make sure you have gear for the conditions. Temps at elevation are still near freezing every night! You could be spending an extended time on the hill if you get stuck.
