Mission Reports: Craig Ram 2500
Sunday the 31st a team from Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery spent the day in Routt County just south of Craig, CO pulling a Ram 2500 back onto the trail after they slid off earlier in the week.
Even chained up, some times you can get into a situation where you’re pulled off the edge of the trail, and unable to get back on under your own power.
The team utilized two vehicles with 2:1 pulley setups on it to slide this truck back onto the road. One vehicle was anchored with a pull pal in the dirt, while another was anchored with another team member rig to prevent them all from being pulled off the side of the road.
Once on scene and rigged, the actual recovery itself was under 30 minutes long. But the evaluation and rigging time had the total on scene operation near 3 hours of time.
Inbound calls have ticked up with hunting seasons and snowfall under way. Make sure you have equipment and supplies to sustain yourself for an extended duration in the back country, never travel alone, and if possible have means to self recover your vehicle. If you can’t recover on your own, we’re here to help!
