Mission Reports: Rolled Jeep above treeline
Saturday the 25th, two teams from Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery went up Leavenworth Creek outside of Georgetown, and connected over to Denarious Mine Rd 248.2I to recover a jeep that rolled a substantial distance off a shelf road.
The vehicle made it about half way to the same road below, but given the steep terrain and safety issues with a potential runaway jeep once righted, the team opted to winch this back uphill to the road above for the flat tow operation.
The first team was on the road as early as 4 AM Saturday, and team 1 had reached the vehicle around 8 AM. Winching began shortly after and the recovery operation was complete approximately 2:30 PM, where the flat tow team took over.
The vehicles contents were secured and scene cleaned up, and the flat tow was underway just before 3:30 PM. The recovered jeep was parked where a tow truck could access it just before 7 PM Saturday evening.
The last responding member arrived back at home around 9:30 PM Saturday evening.
