Mission Reports: Yankee Hill
A few recoveries have occurred this week prior to the inbound snow storm.
This pair of vehicles was up on Yankee hill and the owners were grateful to get them back before the weekend storm buried them possibly until spring. They were on just enough of an angle that they were unable to pull themselves back onto the trail unaided.
Speaking of the weekend storm! PLEASE DO NOT TRAVEL this weekend unless it’s absolutely necessary, and NEVER drive around closure barricades. Very few vehicles are capable of travel in the depths and rate of snowfall that is predicted this weekend.
2 to 3 inch per hour snowfall rates can overload windshield wipers, block your headlights, and accumulate so rapidly on the roads that travel becomes virtually impossible. Add on top of that, once stuck, the high winds can drift snow over your vehicle possibly blocking the exhaust, causing a serious carbon monoxide risk.
