Mission Report: Yankee Hill

20160515-yankee-hill-01

This makes us very proud. On Saturday night four volunteers, Bryan L, Mat B, Ryan H and Tim B executed a recovery on Yankee Hill. Our volunteers and members making recoveries is nothing new. What were proud of is that one of our recent graduates of our Recovery Skills class was there and the team was able to implement skills he learned in our Recovery Skills class.

What Bryan reported was that the team employed skills such as introducing the team to the client being recovered, allowing the client to take part in his own recovery as much as he wanted and was safe, scene assessment, initial vehicle stabilization, determination of direction of easiest and safest recovery, force calculations to make sure enough force was being applied to recover the vehicle to execute recovery yet minimize stress on recovery equipment, maintenance of safety zones and slowing down the process to maintain control and safety.

Our classes emphasize the proper and safest methods to recover vehicles rather then the fastest method that is much higher in risk. Our four volunteers did an excellent job and the client was able to drive home in a safely recovered vehicle.

Our trainer Matt Balazs from On Trail Training could not be more proud. Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery could not be more proud.

Well done, Bryan, Mat, Ryan, and Tim.
